I have always loved food. Food was always a topic of conversation in our house. Whilst eating breakfast, we would talk about lunch and dinner. At lunch, we would talk about dinner and dessert. At dinner, we would talk about tomorrows lunch! Mum hosted dinner parties most weekend and on Saturday, most of the family (15+ people) would gather around the table at Ba's house (my grandma) for lunch to catch up and feast! For as long as I can remember I helped mum prepping food while she cooked up a storm. To this day, I love to hosting dinner parties and enjoying the company of family and friends.
Tasty, fresh and healthy food is one of my biggest pleasures. In my eyes, food brings people together and is linked with chatter, fun, joy, love and laughter.
'Some of my happiest moments are in the kitchen cooking and eating with friends and family!"
My own health journey started when constantly sick, felt exhausted and suffered from gut issues for about 6 months. After many tests, doctors came up with suspected Sjogren's syndrome. The only option I was given to alleviate my symptoms were cortisol shots. In my eyes, this felt like a Band-Aid solution and not the long-term solution I was after. I felt disappointed and angry about having only one option to choose from. Surely there was something else that could be done? I listened to my gut instinct, believed there was another way and decided to do some research.
Much of the research for my autoimmune disease, and it's associated conditions, pointed to diet and lifestyle. Both helped the body to repair itself, reduce inflammation and increase the body's immune function, helping to reduce or eliminate symptoms from my suspected Sjogren's syndrome. I ate well (so I thought!) but decided to do a certificate in Lifestyle, Food and Wellness (which included nutrition) and see for myself.
"I love consulting. I feel like a detective who is putting all the pieces of a puzzle together. One I see the whole picture, the fun continues, to find what works for the client in order to achieve their goals."
Surprise surprise, 3 months after making changes to both my diet and lifestyle, I saw radical changes in my health and I was back to my healthy, energetic, happy self - hurrah, success! After seeing and feeling the difference myself I decided I would help others do the same to improve their quality of life. I didn't feel qualified enough or feel that I had enough knowledge to properly help people with their health which is when I decided to complete my Bachelor of Health Sciences in Nutritional Medicine.
"My goal is to inspire, motivate, support & help you be the healthiest version of you yet!"
That could mean losing weight, having more energy, waking up feeling energetic, managing disease, working on your mindset or resolving any other health issues you may have.
Helping you with your health is a very exciting chapter of my life. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
